Welcome To Kanha National Park

Kanha National Park, located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, is one of India’s most famous wildlife destinations and among the finest tiger reserves in the country. Spread across the Maikal Hills of the Satpura Range, Kanha is known for its lush sal forests, vast grasslands, scenic landscapes, and rich biodiversity. Established as a National Park in 1955 and later declared a Tiger Reserve in 1973 under Project Tiger, Kanha covers a core area of approximately 940 sq. km.
The park is particularly famous for the conservation of the rare Hard Ground Barasingha (Swamp Deer), often called the “Jewel of Kanha.” Along with the majestic Bengal Tiger, visitors can spot leopards, wild dogs (dhole), sloth bears, gaur (Indian bison), sambar deer, chital, jackals, and many other species. Kanha is also home to over 300 species of birds, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers.
The park’s breathtaking meadows, bamboo groves, rivers, and dense forests are believed to have inspired Rudyard Kipling’s famous novel “The Jungle Book.” Today, Kanha remains a symbol of successful wildlife conservation and offers visitors unforgettable jungle safari experiences amidst nature’s beauty.
